The article that I chose discusses the importance of gratitude in our lives. The author discusses confronts the question should you celebrate this holiday even if you are not grateful? The holiday that they are referring to in the article was thanksgiving. He believed that acting grateful made you grateful. This might have been difficult for some people though because gratitude is hard when life is hard. There is a way to get around this though. You need to focus on the better things in life instead of the struggles. I thought that this article was in lightning. It pointed out some very good points that many people today don’t realise. Your own happiness and gratefulness comes from your own thoughts, not from what is happening to you. Having an attitude of gratitude can really boost your day even if things are not going your way. The article was very informative and can be found here.
The next article that I read was about the power of your own thoughts. The article talks about how important your thoughts are to living a positive life . If used correctly that can bring you happiness, but if not then they can harm you. You need to try and keep the negatives thoughts out nd to lake control of your life. I thought that the article was insightful because it explained what kinds of thoughts were negative. To be able to truly be happy when you need to think happy. The impact that your thoughts have on your everyday life is tremendous. Your thoughts are your own, so make them count. The article can be found here.

One idea that John Woodman had was that not everybody is created equal. Some people may not always be able to get an A or a B in a class, and that is just fine. Another idea that he had was to always learn from others. A third idea that he had was to be patient. As youths we are impatient, but things will work out. He says that we need to have faith in what we are doing. You may not always be better than them, but you can learn from them. Lastly, a lesson was to always be on time. Keep a schedule and follow it. Starting on time and ending on time. There are many more great thessons that you could learn from John Woodman. The link to his video can be found HERE.
The 2018 winter Olympics have started recently, and there are already many stories coming from the events. Besides countries winning metals, there are other stories and memories that people are getting. One of those stories is that a U.S. Luger got into a crash midway through her final run in the competition. This was startling not only for her, but for everyone watching the Olympics. Everyone went silent and was waiting to see if she was injured. Also, even though she is an American, everyone was concerned. She crashed on curve 9. It has been known that the curve was dangerous, and many other countries were concerned for the athletes safety. This is an example of many different people coming together for a common cause. The safety of their countries athletes can bring them together. The link to the article can be found here.
This weeks blog post is about how people in your life help you succeed. They took quotes from six different people. Their full statements can be found HERE. The quote from Temple St. Clair talked about how a strong support system is crucial for success. A agree with this because no matter how strong you are, you need support one in awhile in your life. The quote from Derek J. Sine talks about how you need to keep yourself accountable for your actions, whether they be good or bad. This is important because you need to keep yourself in check so you do not step out of line. There was a quote on the website from Sama Jashnani that talks about the importance of keeping up your confidence. Confidence in life will help you succeed in life because it will help you do your best in life. The quote from Mera Baker talks about how constructive criticism is beneficial. Even if it may seem like it is not helpful at the time, it can help you succeed later in life. Chris Nicholson's quote talks about the importance of the people in your life. If you surround yourself with positive people, then they will eventually rub off on you. Lastly, the quote from Heather Ripley talks about how you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. This related back to the previous quote that says to surround yourself with positive people. All of the quotes have a strong meaning and an important message.
Mr. Jim Rohn was a motivational speaker who reached millions with his words. In one of his videos, there were many inspiring points. One of those points were to not blame other people for your misfortunes. You might feel hurt, but there is no point getting angry with other people or things. Another lesson that I learned was that the only person you should blame is yourself. You are the only person standing in your way of achieving your goals. Lastly, a lesson that I learned was to stop making excuses. Your goal may be hard at first, but it will get easier if you try harder each time.
The link to the inspiring video can be found HERE. This weeks blog post is about the difference John O'Leary has made in peoples lives. When he was younger he was cough in a fire and suffered burns on all of his body. Now he is going around, telling his story, and inspiring people to become better. The first video that I watched can be found HERE. One lesson out of this is that you should never give up. No matter how bad life may seem now it will get better. Another lesson from the video is that you need to try. When John O'Leary was a kid he needed to relearn how to write. He kept on trying and did not give up. Now he is able to write. The second video that I watched can be found HERE. One lesson that I learned from this video is that you can have a big impact on peoples lives even if you don't mean to. Everything you say and do is important so make the most of it. Another thing that I learned from this video is that there is always two sides to a coin. If there is bad there has to be good. John has also written a book, and that has many inspiring lessons in it.
Martin Luther King Jr. has had an amazing impact on the way people live in the world today. He was a social rights activist in the 1950's and has helped people everywhere get the rights that they deserve. Along the way, he has said some things that stick with us today. One quote from Martin Luther King Jr. that I think is important is, " If a man has not discovered something that he will die for, he isn't fit to live." I think that this quote has an impact on the people of today because of how everyone wants a purpose. Without a cause or reason to live, then what is the point of living if you do not want to change things for the better. Another quote from Martin Luther King Jr. is " Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." I feel that this connects to people because of how people can change the world. If we let things go that should change or that we have the power to change then why are we even here. We all need to make a difference, no matter how small. There are other quotes from him that hold power. They can be found HERE.
A little while ago, Oprah did an interview with Mitch Albom about his book "Tuesdays With Morrie". This interview came with many valuable life lessons that can be used today. One of the valuable lessons that I learned is that time is a valuable gift that you can give yourself. Oprah mentions how valuable time is right at the beginning of the podcast, and how we can connect to a deeper world around us. Another valuable and important life lesson that was brought up in the podcast was that a connection to family is important. Oprah stated in the podcast without family we are life birds with broken wings. Mitch and Oprah both commented on how we need love and family because those are one of the only things that truly matter in life. Lastly, there was a quote that Morrie said when he was with Mitch. Morrie said, “ Taking makes me feel like i'm dying. Giving makes me feel like i’m living”. I feel that this is inspiring because it sums up the feelings of a lot of people. Everyone tries to have a purpose in life, and giving back to others gives a way to make a positive difference in the world around us. These were not the only life lessons in the podcast that came with any value. Listening to the podcast has helped me get a better appreciation for life. The link to the full interview can be found HERE-Oprah's Podcast.
Humility has power.Humility is an undervalued commodity, so it’s a great time to buy. Acknowledging the help and contributions of others on the team prevents you from being too high to hear the opinions of others, and the lows of not feeling like you can do it on your own.
—Tim Chaves, ZipBooks We can all relate to this because we have all seen or felt humility in our lives. We usually see it as a bad thing, but that may not be the case. We are usually humiliated when we are arrogant and believe in ourselves too much. This quote helps to prove to us that it may not be such a bad thing. Humility helps us to remember that we are no better than everyone else around us. However, it also reminds us that we are sometimes better than what we think of ourselves. Criticism doesn’t equal judgment. What other people think of you is none of your business. You need to take feedback with a grain of salt. The more you can distance yourself and not judge yourself, the better you’ll be able to focus on the actual work. —Nicole Munoz, Start Ranking Now I believe that this quote can relate to us all because the only opinion that should matter to you is your own. People will always judge you and say you are not good enough, but that is not the truth. If you stop worrying and believe in yourself, there will be nothing that can hold you back from completing your goal. Failure isn’t forever. There’s no way to talk yourself out of a fear of failure: You just have to keep embracing challenging projects until you have the experience to understand that failure isn’t forever.Failure will have consequences, but don’t let your attitude add extra ones. Get back on your feet and try something new. Try something easier if it will get you back in the groove. —Adam Steele, The Magistrate We can all relate to this because we have all experienced failure, whether it be big or small. You can not fear failure. The more that you fear failure, the more power it gets; the more power it has, the harder it will be to overcome. Instead, what you can do is get back into things. If you let failure hold you back, then you will never get anywhere in life. These are only three of the twelve inspiring quotes that I used from the website. The rest of the quotes can be found from the link below www.success.com/article/12-empowering-lessons-about-failure From the incredible and very much missed - Dr. Jeff Lip, he shared this quote with me last week: "Faith and fear require the not knowing aspect. Why not choose faith instead of fear?" - Brent Payne What are a few thoughts of yours about this powerful quote?
I believe that this quote was meant to inspire people. You have the choice when you do not know what will happen. The choice is whether to have faith in the situation or fear it. The quote questions why someone does not choose faith over fear. They both only require you to make one choice. Why would you let something negative like fear overshadow something positive like faith. |
